A strangely smaller than usual box...
...opens up to reveal this.
Here's the polishes unwrapped!
Showing off their labels.
If it's a little washed out, from left to right: Sandra (a 'friendly, frosted magenta'), Basecoat, Megan (a 'playful and sultry Mediterranean aquamarine shimmer'), Jessica (a 'soft and sweet baby blue creme'), and Rachel (a 'warm, rich copper shimmer').
A decent mix of colors, though mostly shimmers/metallic and a token creme (plus basecoat).
August is leaving me underwhelmed as far as Julep boxes go, it seems. It's not that I don't love my mystery box, because I do like the mix of colors that I got. I don't even mind getting the basecoat because, really, you can't have too much basecoat options (or top coat, for that matter). I even appreciate that it's mostly shimmers/metallics because that's very on trend as far as nail polish colors go. Heck, even value for price is still pretty spot on with each bottle of polish clocking in at $4 a piece compared to it's regular price of $14. It's just that..I sorely miss the add-ons you get from the other options. I wouldn't have minded getting another file or another tube of the hand cream. I guess you really do appreciate something once you don't get it. Either that or I've really been spoiled by all the other options that add a little something other than just nail polish. Seeing as it's my gamble with the It Girl option that got me this box, this only leads me to one conclusion: I'm no It Girl and I doubt I'd want to choose this option ever again. I'm sticking to my reliable, 98% no-fail American Beauty or Boho Glam, thankyouverymuch.
Strangely enough, this is probably my shortest post to date. Weird. On a different note: look at August just passing us by! And yay for another three-day weekend. I can definitely use one, for sure. Whatever your plans for the long weekend, I hope you have an awesome one! Now tell us, how'd you fare with this month's Julep mystery box (if you even opted to get one, that is)? Would you prefer an extra bottle of nail polish to one of a wide array of nail care products? Do you consider yourself an It Girl?
